Body Walk exhibit teaches kids about health

JACKSONVILLE, Ark. - An innovative, exciting way to learn about the importance of good nutrition and physical fitness is coming to students at Dupree Elementary School.

The Body Walk exhibit opens Friday, Feb. 4 starting at 8:30 a.m. and will be open throughout the school day.

After being awarded a grant for a one-semester school-wide nutrition education program, the school chose the motto, “Healthy Bodies Make Healthy Minds.” The Body Walk exhibit, operated by University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture Cooperative Extension Service, is an exciting event the school chose because of the great opportunity for students to learn about the importance of making healthy food choices and being physically active.

Students will have the opportunity to explore the human body with “The OrganWise Guys” as their guides. The tour will begin as students walk through a giant ear into the brain and continue through the “body” with a volunteer presenter at 10 different stations engaging the students in an activity focused on healthy choices.
