Gym renovations complete | Schools
SHERWOOD, Ark. – Major renovations to the Sylvan Hills High School gymnasium are complete, and students are using the updated facility, according to Kevin Downing, the district’s athletic director.
Downing credited the Sherwood community with making the facelift possible.
“School supporters really came together to make this happen, including painting the gym,” he said. Another major piece to the project was completely replacing the bleachers. “The district also replaced ventilation fans that will help in the summer when it’s warm,” Downing said. The renovations cost about $150,000.
“All teams – and students who participate in physical education classes – are benefitting from the improvements,” he added.
“And, the Sylvan Hills Bears boys’ basketball team is currently number one in the state’s 5A division,” Downing said. “The renovated gym was much needed, and we’re excited they have this space to practice and play. It’s giving positive exposure to the district.”
Downing said the Sylvan Hills High gym renovation is only the first on a list of facilities projects designed to improve the athletic programs throughout the district.
