NLRPD awarded accreditation at CALEA Fall Conference
News

Chief Danny Bradley and other members of the North Little Rock Police Department were in attendance at the Commission for Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) Conference in Garden Grove, California.

The North Little Rock Police Department began the Accreditation process in October of 2007. During this time, the police department had to ensure our written directives complied with CALEA national standards. To gain Accreditation, The North Little Rock Police Department had to not only comply with 329 mandatory standards and 65 other than mandatory standards, but provide proofs of compliance for each standard for every year during the process.

For several days this past July, a team of CALEA assessors examined all aspects of the Department's policies and procedures, management, operations, and support services to verify the North Little Rock Police Department meet CALEA's state-of-the-art standards.

Since the first CALEA Accreditation Award was granted in 1984, the program has become the primary method for agencies to voluntarily demonstrate their commitment to excellence in law enforcement. While this has been a long and tedious process, Chief Danny Bradley is proud to have achieved the Accreditation status and believes this is another step in strengthening the North Little Rock Police Departments accountability, both within the agency and to the community.

Chief Danny Bradley will be available today for media interviews. Requests for interviews should be made through Sgt Terry Kuykendall at the listed Public Information numbers. For more information on CALEA, go to www.calea.org.
