Planting of 25,000 tulips event details

The Plant it Pink Festival to be held March 25 – April 3,  2011 preparation begins with the planting of 25,000 pink tulips on Main and Maple in the Argenta Arts District of North Little Rock.  P. Allen Smith, the presenting sponsor of the Plant It Pink Festival will be joined by representatives of the Arkansas Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the Master Gardeners to assist Jay Miller of Seven Oaks Nursery.

The planting will start at 9AM in the 400 block of Main Street in NLR, Friday , Dec. 17th ,near the historic US Post Office.

 About Plant It Pink Festival

 

The Argenta Arts Foundation has partnered with P. Allen Smith , the City of North Little Rock, AY Magazine and the Argenta Downtown Council to celebrate Spring of 2011 with 25,000 Pink Tulips in downtown North Little Rock’s Argenta Arts District from March 25 – 31st and to honor those families affected by breast cancer.

P. Allen Smith is the Presenting Sponsor along his partners VanZyverden; ProMix and Yardistry Structures of the Plant It Pink Festival. The net proceeds from Sponsorship of the 28 individual flower beds and 50 pots of pink tulips will benefit the Arkansas Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

The week will begin with a ticketed Reception on Friday, March 25, 2011 in the CityGrove Townhomes Art Park on 5th Street between Main and Maple in Argenta. On Saturday March 26, 2011 P. Allen Smith will host a Spring Garden discussion and lead a Susan G. Komen Honor's Walk down Main Street in Argenta.  On Tuesday March 29th Tales from the South (www.talesfromthesouth.com) will feature Southern writers presenting short stories about the impact of breast cancer in their lives.  Tickets for this event will include dinner and a live recording of the program for radio broadcast on NPR stations. Other events will be added as details are confirmed with speakers.
