THEA set deadline for scholarships

The THEA Foundation’s 2011 Visual and Performing Arts Scholarship Competitions are fast approaching. Each year the THEA Foundation offers ten scholarships in the Visual Arts and ten scholarships in the Performing Arts to Arkansas High School Seniors (public, private, home-schooled, and GED students are eligible).

The theme for this year’s Visual Arts Scholarship Competition is “Amazing Butterflies.”  The competition is based on a different theme each year taken from Thea's high school journal.   Judging will be based on creativity, design, and interpretation of the theme. Students should review more information on the theme, specifications for entries, and submit their entries online at www.theafoundation.org. The deadline to submit to the Visual Arts Competition is January 19th, 2011.

The Performing Arts Competition will take place the at the Argenta Community Theater in North Little Rock for the first time this year.  The deadline to sign up is February 11th at noon. The auditions will take place on Saturday, February 12th. Audition categories are singing, dancing, and acting. For more information and sign up visit www.theafoundation.org

"The level of talent displayed in the entries is always amazing", said Paul Leopoulos, Co-Founder and Executive Director of the THEA Foundation. "It always makes the judging process very tough on the judges”.  The THEA Scholarship Program runs a high level competition in both disciplines, judged by Arkansas’ and nationally known arts professionals. THEA Scholarships do not consider ACT or SAT scores, grade point levels, or major requirements. Currently, twenty-four colleges (in state and out of state) offer additional scholarship money to any THEA Scholarship winner accepted as a full time student.

Scholarships are supported by the THEA Foundation’s Business and Family Partner Program. For more information on THEA Scholarships or to donate please visit www.theafoundation.org or call the THEA Foundation 501-379-9512.
