'Today's THV at 6:30': Tale of Two Bridges

It's a Tale of Two Bridges: The Clinton Bridge, which has just started its remodeling, and the Big Dam Bridge, which Sunday night will offer a walk by the light of the moon.

A consortium of architects, engineers, city planners and construction managers, met with the public at the Clinton Library Thursday. They unveiled an ambitious $10 million project, that has been a dream of former President Clinton's since opening his library six years ago. Construction has already begun and is expected to be completed by July of 2011. It will offer pedestrians, bikers, skateboarders, a stroll over the river, on an historic bridge built in 1899.

But, that's a bridge for strolls in the future. As for now, Sunday night, the Big Dam Bridge will offer up its Full Moon Walk. Under the light of the full moon, Arkansans are being urged to come walk, (yes walk only; no bikers or joggers) as an exercise in fitness. Organizers hope the event will help Arkansans establish a life of fitness built around the bridge which opened in September of 2006. Anyone wanting to walk is urged to get there at 5:30 to negotiate parking, and to bring a flashlight.

Moon over November, and hopes for a new pedestrian bridge in July, Little Rock is offering a unique set of excursions unseen anywhere in the U.S.
