The Thea Foundation and Arkansas Dance Network are partnering to bring Bill Hastings and Kathy Calahan to Arkansas on Saturday, October 12, 2013, at the UALR Dance Studio and Haislip Theatre (2801 S. University, Little Rock). The dance workshop attendees will learn choreography and tips from Broadway’s best. Hastings and Calahan will inspire the dancers and gives them the tools to become better performers.

Bill Hastings has performed in over forty musicals and plays including Broadway and National touring productions of “The Most Happy Fella,” “A Chorus Line,” “Cabaret,” “Rags,” Bob Fosse’s “Dancin,’” and “Sweet Charity.” Currently, he is teaching at Peridance and Broadway Dance Center in New York City and in workshops/master classes worldwide. During his professional career, he has had the privilege to work with such dance luminaries as Bob Fosse, Michael Bennett, Graciela Daniele, Ron Field, Scott Salmon, Chet Walker (whom he assisted during the creation of the Tony Award winning musical FOSSE), Tony Stevens, Phil Black, Harvey Hysell, and Luigi. For more information, visit www.billhastings.org.

Kathy Calahan just finished a five-year run in Broadway’s “Mary Poppins.” She toured nationally in the original production of “Ragtime,” shared the stage with Tony Curtis in “Some Like It Hot,” danced in Randy Skinner’s “White Christmas,” and has performed all around the U.S. in regional theatres. Passionate about teaching, Kathy always finds time to fit it into her performing life. Her wide range of knowledge in music, theatre, and dance enriches her life, as well as her students. Her latest creation is a new CD for children called “Brighten Up!” For more information, please visit www.kathycalahan.com.
