LRFW 2011 seeks best hairstylists in the state

Are you the "baddest" hairstylist in town? Here's your chance to prove it!

Little Rock Fashion Week (LRFW) is accepting applications from hairstylists and hair salons, wanting to showcase their hair designs at Little Rock Fashion Week 2011, scheduled July 11-16.

In its third year, LRFW is recognized as the one fashion experience that pushes the envelope when it comes to models' hair on the runway. A few lucky hairstylists and hair salons will be highlighted at LRFW's Posh Expression and Young & Fabulous fashion shows. Participating hairstylists and salons will compete to win the inaugural LRFW’s “2011 Best Hairstylists" award. The winner receives several prizes and perks for up to one year.

Shakespeare Theatre announces 2011 festival cast

CONWAY, Ark. — The Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre, Arkansas’s only professional Shakespeare Festival, has announced its cast for the 2011 summer festival.

AST’s fifth season of professional theatre in repertory will run June 16-July 3 at multiple venues: Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall on the University of Central Arkansas campus and The Village at Hendrix Greenspace, both in Conway, as well as the newly-renovated Argenta Community Theatre on Main Street in North Little Rock. The season will include As You Like It, Othello, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and the children’s show, The Tortoise and the Hare.

“With the addition of the two new venues, I hope that theatre-goers in Arkansas and around the region will embrace AST as reflection of the cultural and artistic growth that is currently underway,” said Dr.

Little Rock Fashion Week (LRFW) is accepting applications from fashion designers and boutique operators, wanting to showcase their clothing lines at Little Rock Fashion Week 2011, scheduled July 11-16. The final postmark deadline is March 5.

In its third year, LRFW highlights the best fashions by local and national designers and boutiques at its Posh Expression and Young & Fabulous fashion shows.

Get your green on at St. Patrick's Day Parade

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The 12th Annual Rock to North Little Rock St. Patrick's Day Parade will be held on Saturday, March 12 at 1 p.m.

The Parade begins on Third Street in downtown Little Rock near the main Post Office, passes Dugan's Irish Pub at Third and Rock Streets, travels through River Market, crosses the Main Street Bridge into North Little Rock ending in the Argenta Historic District. The reviewing stand will be located in front of Cregeen's Irish Pub at Main and Broadway in North Little Rock.

A program of traditional Irish music and dance will be held on the main stage in North Little Rock following the parade from 2-4 p.m.

The parade is presented by the Irish Cultural Society of Arkansas and sponsored by the city of North Little Rock and the Regional Recycling and Waste Reduction District. For more information, visit IrishArkansas.org or call 501-868-6416.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Museum of Discovery extended the deadline for its "Buy a Brick" appeal to May 1, 2011. Funds from the campaign support the Museum's complete renovation to become a first-class science center.

For $100, individuals, businesses, community groups and families can receive a personalized brick with their own message. Each brick can have up to three lines of text with eighteen characters per line. The bricks will be featured in front of the Museum of Discovery's new entry.

"We are preparing to close the building on April 3 for the remainder of our renovations," says Meredith Poland, Development Director.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Thousands of spectators flocked to the Metroplex to see Little Rock Fashion Week's fashion presentation at the Seventh Annual Midsouth Summit Black Expo, this past weekend. The show served as a sneak peak for audience members into Little Rock Fashion Week (LRFW) 2011, which is scheduled July 11-16 in downtown Little Rock.

"This was a very important event for us. It was a an opportunity to reconnect with our followers in the community on a more intimate level, and reiterate our mission," says Brandon Campbell. "Little Rock Fashion Week isn't about just partying and fashion shows. It's about celebrating Arkansas communities, bringing people together with people, promoting people's talents and inspiring young people. These are examples of what makes Little Rock Fashion Week the best fashion experience in America.
