A new way for single Arkansans to meet attracting hundreds

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - "I'm a single dad," Matt Mittlestat said. Bryant Steele added, "I've been divorced for a little over two years." "My ex-husband deployed and I really don't have a support system in Arkansas at all," Whitney Chase said. These are three different people with similar stories.

"A friend of mine told me I needed to join this singles group. I was like no, and everybody has the same thing, you tell them singles group and it's like oh no! I don't want to be in no singles group," Steele explained. But Steele soon discovered the group was unlike any group he's been a part of before. He said, "I still wasn't ready to date. I was mentally and emotionally damaged."

The exclusive Facebook group is called Commingle Singles and already has more than 600 members in it. It was created by Delaine Carter with the goal of bringing singles together in a less stressful environment. Making a successful match is just an added bonus.

Whitney Chase and Matt Mittlestat met through the group. Chase said, "There's no pressure. There's no pressure to date anybody. No pressure to go out on dates, you just meet up." Five exclusive relationships have already been formed and a reunion of estranged siblings of 30 years have reconnected since the group started. Steele said, "It's really been a life saver for a lot of people."

The group is invite-only so you must be invited by someone else on Facebook to join.
