Church brings Mardi Gras theme to LR marathon | Community Spirit

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- First United Methodist Church, Downtown for GOOD, celebrates the Little Rock Marathon with a Mardi Gras theme. Members will be lining the street, cheering on the runners and walkers with lively music and lots of encouragement. This year featuring a Mardi Gras theme, beads will be distributed to the cheering masses.
Music on the street starts at 9 a.m. Members will be in costume, masks and the colors of Mardi Gras. A balloon arch will be constructed using purple, green and gold.
A sponsor of the Little Rock Marathon, mile-marker 9 is affectionately claimed as the “Methodist Mile.” Members and the community are invited to join in the festivities by wearing a mask, costume or the colors of Mardi Gras. Plenty of beads will be on hand!
One worship service will begin at 11:15 in the Sanctuary.
