Good Gardens presents Phyllis Haynes, Arkansas Foodbank CEO

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- The William F. Laman Public Library System presents Phyllis Haynes, CEO of the Arkansas Foodbank, as September’s featured Good Gardens speaker.

Having joined the Foodbank in 1999, Haynes has led the organization to nearly double the distribution of food to hungry people in Arkansas through nearly 400 food pantries, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, and other organizations that feed the hungry. She was recently named to the Technology Governance Board of Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger relief organization. The board sets Feeding America’s direction in implementing new technologies to better manage food donations and fundraising, supply-chain systems, accounting, and other efforts.

Church cancels meeting; worships through service

Church cancels meeting; worships through service

SHERWOOD, Ark. – Cornerstone Bible Fellowship will not be meeting, at least in its traditional fashion, on Sunday August 7.  On that day church members will be out in the communities in Central Arkansas – Sherwood, North Little Rock, Jacksonville, Vilonia, and Little Rock – Worshipping by Serving.  It's declared as a day in which Cornerstone members say to one another, Don’t Go to Church – BE THE CHURCH.

Cornerstone people will be at 18 service sites serving people from the homeless, to Vilonia storm victims, to hospitals patients and families, to individual widows who need home repairs.  Several  hundred Cornerstone people will be serving with the emphasis on showing God’s love to all people and working out the need the church has to be outside of its walls to show this love.  There are 18 service sites such as Ronald McDonald House, local police and fire stations and a local nursing home.
