Divas Dressing Darlings makes more than 'fashion statement'

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Divas Dressing Darlings, held at RK Collections in the Chenal Promenade last Thursday evening, June 16, 2011 had a wonderful turnout.  The goal of the event was to bring awareness to the non-profit Little Dresses for Africa and The Compassion Fashion Project.  Guests were asked to bring in pillowcases that will be turned into dresses for little girls in impoverished areas of Africa.  Live music by Jessica Carder gave the ambience of a jazzy feel to the whole evening and created a light, fun atmosphere.  Speakers included Brandon Campbell, producer of Little Rock Fashion Week, Beth Goodrich, executive director of The Women's Shelter of Central Arkansas in Conway, Meredith Corning, founder of The Compassion Fashion Project and Robin Kratzke, owner of RK Collections.

Guests were dressed to the nines and spent their time shopping, sipping wine, enjoying cupcakes, eclaires and the festivities with one another.

Honor Dad with gift to Heifer

Honor Dad with gift to Heifer

Father’s Day is a day that we honor fathers for the important role they play in shaping their children’s lives and our society. Around the world, fathers have different lifestyles, parenting methods and challenges but they all want to provide happy and secure lives for their children. Heifer International, a charitable organization that works to end hunger and poverty, meets remarkable fathers everyday overcoming tremendous odds to provide the basic necessities to their children.

Sebastian Alvarado-Brizuela of Isletas, a father of four in Southern Honduras, suddenly became a struggling single parent after his wife abandoned their children while he was away working in another country. Their local economy did not provide sufficient job opportunities and he lacked the funds to improve his small farm to provide enough food and income for his family.
