NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Community Connections is a non-profit organization dedicated to offering free extra-curricular activities for children with special needs and supporting their families.

Spring programs including dance, soccer, theatre and cheerleading will be starting up soon! Programs are available across the state, including Russellville, Conway, Little Rock, North Little Rock and Sherwood.

UALR’s EIT to host ExxonMobil Harris Science Camp

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – UALR’s Donaghey College of Engineering and Information Technology (EIT) is one of 25 sites selected to host the ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp in 2011.

This year’s camp will be from July 10 to 22. Students can apply through the Harris Foundation. This is the third year in a row for UALR to host the camp.

The program offers a free two-week residential camps hosted at colleges and universities across the nation for promising middle school grade level students to enhance their proficiency in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- First United Methodist Church, Downtown for GOOD, celebrates the Little Rock Marathon with a Mardi Gras theme.  Members will be lining the street, cheering on the runners and walkers with lively music and lots of encouragement. This year featuring a Mardi Gras theme, beads will be distributed to the cheering masses.

Music on the street starts at 9 a.m.

SHERWOOD, Ark. -- The Honor Guard will be providing Military Honors for TSgt Leroy Braumaugh, a homeless Air Force retiree, on Friday, March 4, at 12:00 at the Veterans' Cemetery in Sherwood off Hwy 107. The cemetery is only about 15 mins out the back gate and the ceremony should only take about 20 mins.

The Green Knights Motorcycle Club from the air base will be at the ceremony, in addition to the Patriot Guard. Motorcycle riders can meet up at Small Base Lake at 11:15 and we can ride down together and meet up with the Patriot Guard.  All others should try to carpool.

JCA gives awards at annual dinner

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Just Communities of Arkansas will bestow the Humanitarian Award to Bobby Roberts, Director of the Central Arkansas Library System, and State Representative Kathy Webb for the work they have done for all Arkansans.

The Annual Dinner will be held on Tuesday, March 8 at the Peabody Grand Ballroom in Little Rock, with a reception at 6:00 p.m. and the dinner and program from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.  The Chair of this year’s event is Nate Coulter.  Tickets are $200 each.  To purchase tickets or a table, contact the JCA office at 501-372-5129, or visit http://www.arkansasjustcommunities.org/ for a printable order form.  The deadline for ordering tickets is Thursday, March 3.
