SHERWOOD, Ark. (KTHV) - According to Arkansas Business, Galley Support Innovations Inc. announced Thursday that it plans to add another 21,000-SF on to the property adjacent to its Manson Road headquarters. 

GSI expansion hopes to accommodate several new multi-million dollar contracts. The business makes interior hardware such as locks, hinges and other door parts. 

Arkansas Business reported that most of the new contracts will be for interior hardware for luxury Gulfstream aircraft.

Monthly food truck meet up in West Little Rock

WEST LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (LRS) – According to Little Rock Soiree, you can now find your favorite food trucks at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church on the fourth Monday of every month.

The magazine said you can expect the trucks to open shop between 5 and 8 p.m. at 20900 Chenal Parkway. It kicks off March 30.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Law enforcement officers from around central Arkansas will be waiting tables at the Texas Roadhouse locations in North Little Rock and Little Rock Thursday, March 12. 

The Battle of the Badges "Tip a Cop" is a competition between each agency. The one who raises the most money and awareness for Special Olympics Arkansas will have bragging rights as the agency with the most community support. 

All of the proceeds gained from their efforts will go directly to the Special Olympics Arkansas and provide year round training to the 14,000 Special Olympic athletes.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (First Assembly of God Church) - The First Assembly of God Church in North Little Rock, pastored by Reverend Rod Loy, launched a 10-week campaign to feed hungry children in xentral Arkansas on Feb. 1, 2015.

According to recent studies by child hunger experts:

·       Arkansas is the hungriest state in America.  Last year, 21.2 percent of households were at risk of hunger.

·       111,771 students in Arkansas qualify for free lunch (23.5 percent of all school children).  For many of them, the only full meal they get is at school. 

·       1 in 5 school children in Arkansas don’t have an adequate meal when they go home at night.

·       28.4 percent of children in Arkansas are food insecure – meaning consistent access to adequate food is limited by a lack of money and other resources.

Jacksonville police host Prescription Drug Take Back Day

JACKSONVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) - The Jacksonville Police Department will be hosting Prescription Drug Take Back Day in an attempt to collect expired and unused medications from those in the community. 

This event will be held Saturday, April 25 from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. at the Jacksonville Police Department off 1400 Marshall Road. 

Drop-off of the medications is completely anonymous and no questions will be asked. Medications can be returned in any container. For privacy, the pills may be removed from the original pill bottle. Police are accepting unwanted prescriptions, over the counter meds and vitamins.

According to a study published in 2013 by the Partnership at Drugfree.org and MetLife Foundation, more than 40 percent of teens who have misused or abused a prescription, obtained it from their parents' medicine cabinet.

Students from all over Ark. will compete in State Spelling Bee

Students from all over Ark. will compete in State Spelling Bee

CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) - The best spellers in the state will come together to compete at the Arkansas State Spelling Bee, which could take the winner to nationals in Washington D.C.

The competition will be held Feb. 28 in the Reynolds Performance Hall on the University of Central Arkansas campus in Conway. Registration will start at 7:30 a.m. and the competition will begin at 9 a.m. 

The competition will consist of 60 county spelling bee winners in second through eighth grade that will be competing for an all-expense-paid trip to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C., in May. 

The other prizes will be Kindles for the top three finishers, Amazon gift cards and Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionaries.
