Scammer poses as Pulaski Co. sheriff's deputy

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office warns of a scammer posing as one of their employees.

Lt. Carl Minden said someone claiming to be "Lt. Ron Davis" with the Sheriff's Office contacted someone in the county and said he had two outstanding warrants and if he didn't pay $580 he would be arrested.

The victim told the scammer he didn't have the money, but the scammer told him he would provide him with a card he can put the money on to take care of the issue.

The victim as well as a sheriff's deputy called the number of "Lt. Ron Davis" and there was a message claiming they had reached the Sheriff's Office.

Minden says there is no one by the name of Lt. Ron Davis that works with the Sheriff's Office.

He wants to remind everyone that the sheriff's office would never ask anyone to go to a store and get a gift card, Green Dot Card, or anything of that nature. Minden said if someone calls you with a request of this nature, contact your local law enforcement agency for help.
