2 arrested in meth bust

LONOKE CO., Ark. (KTHV) -- Lonoke County investigators arrested 39-year-old Geanna Smith Hammond of North Little Rock and 41-year-old Shawn Alan Taylor of Jacksonville Tuesday after a narcotics operation.

Authorities say both subjects were arrested during the course of delivering methamphetamine.  According to the report, the two were in possession of about two-and-a-half grams of meth, along with drug paraphernalia.

Hammond and Taylor were transported to the Detention Facility, where Hammond was found to have another half-gram of methamphetamine concealed on her person.

The pair was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and intent to deliver. Taylor was also driving on a suspended license, according to the Lonoke Sheriff’s Department. Both are being held at the Lonoke County Detention Facility.

Christopher R. Thyer, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas, and Christopher Pikelis, Special Agent in Charge of the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation, Nashville Field Office, announced today the plea of guilty to a misdemeanor Information by Dara L. Booth, age 43, of North Little Rock, Arkansas before the Honorable D. Price Marshall, United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Arkansas.

The Information charges Booth with two counts of failure to pay taxes in violation of Title 26, United States Code, Section 7203.

Shooting victim dies after being taken off life support

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – Police say Jerome Nigel Casey, 44, has died after being removed from life support. The shooting that put him there, which detectives believe as an attempted robbery, is still under investigation.

Sunday afternoon around 4:30 police responded to Camp Robinson Road after a 911 caller reported a robbery and shooting.  Officers found Casey lying in the parking lot between two vehicles suffering from at least one gunshot wound. 

Authorities say the suspect, who demanded money from the victim before shooting him, was described as a short black male, wearing black pants, a black and gray hoodie, wearing a black ski mask.

North Little Rock Police Investigators are urging anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the North Little Rock Police Department at 501-758-1234.

BENTON, Ark. -- The Benton Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a sex offender that has an active felony warrant.  The offender is Jessie Knight (B/M, 54 YOA) who has violated a provision of his release terms and conditions.

Jessie Knight is wanted for Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Registration Requirements.   Knight is in violation for not providing a current address where he is residing pursuant to his release requirements.

Homicide victim identified as 30-year-old NLR man

 NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – North Little Rock Police Officers responded to the 6700 block of Delhaven around 1:30 early Tuesday morning.

When officers arrived, they found a white Buick parked in a driveway, where a man was located lying in the rear seat of the vehicle.

After an autopsy today, the victim was positively identified as 30-year-old Charles Duran Edwards of North Little Rock.

The homicide is still under investigation and the public is asked to contact the North Little Rock Police Department at 501.758.1234 if they have information about this incident.

URM spends a night on the street to raise awareness

URM spends a night on the street to raise awareness

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. –  The Union Rescue Mission (URM) is holding its fourth annual “Night on the Street” to help raise awareness and financial support for programming that touches the lives of  the homeless domestically abused and addicted here in Central Arkansas.

URM’s goal is $100,000 and each involved individual will commit to spend the night on the streets, learn about the plight of those the Mission serves and assist in raising resources for the Union Rescue Mission.  Donations can be obtained by contacting friends, colleagues or family to assist in getting the person off the street.  The personal goal of those participating is $1,000. 

The event will take place on Thursday, March 17, at the River Market Pavilions from 6 p.m. to midnight.
