Recycling rewards program cut due to poor results

PULASKI COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) - Recycling incentives in Pulaski County are getting a makeover.

This comes after a 3-city-wide, 2-year-old recycling program got cut Tuesday night due to a lack in participation.

The board, made up of the mayors of Little Rock, North Little Rock, Sherwood, Maumelle and Jacksonville, are now formulating a new incentive plan.

"We want people who are presently recycling to continue to do it and we want people who aren't to register and think hey I'd like to win that $1,000 card from Walmart," said John Roberts of the Regional Recycling and Waste Reduction District.

A request for a new proposal will go out in September with a goal of starting a new program in 2015.
