Controlled burn at Camp Robinson today

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (ANG) -- The Arkansas National Guard Engineering & Environmental Office will conduct a prescribed burn over approximately 15 acres of land on Camp Robinson Maneuver Training Center in North Little Rock, Ark. beginning at about 1:00 p.m., on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, and will last until approximately 4 p.m.

The prescribed burn will be located in the posts central cantonment area and include the running track facility and south perimeter of the golf course.

The intent of the burn is to clear out underbrush and overgrowth around old concrete foundation structures from previously removed old World War !!-era warehouse and storage facilities. The concrete is scheduled to be removed and the area re-landscaped in the next month.

The Post firefighters and environmental personnel will monitor the activity, and adjacent fire departments are notified as a precaution to ensure public safety for areas neighboring the post.

National Guard training exercises scheduled on Pinnacle Mountain

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.(ANG) –The Arkansas National Guard will conduct a training exercise near the summit of 1,011-foot Pinnacle Mountain at Pinnacle Mountain State Park this Saturday, April 5, from approximately 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. A Black Hawk helicopter team will practice hoists and airlifts from the boulder field near the top of Pinnacle Mountain. The hoist site will be about 200 feet off the park’s West Summit Trail. Neither the West Summit Trail nor the East Summit Trail that lead hikers to mountain’s summit will be closed to the public during this exercise.

However, soldiers will be stationed on both trails to inform hikers of the exercise and communicate any necessary safety precautions. Two local fire departments will be staged in the park's West Summit Picnic Area to support the training exercise and share information about their operations with park visitors. (ANGEO) -The Arkansas National Guard Environmental Office will conduct a prescribed burn over approximately 390 acres of land on Camp Robinson Maneuver Training Center in North Little Rock, Ark. beginning at about 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday morning, March 26, 2014, and will last until approximately 4 p.m.

The prescribed burn will be located near the Western boundary of the post and involve a portion of a remote training area.

The intent of the burn is to reduce the amount of natural fuel on the ground in order to benefit wildlife and the surrounding communities with the reduced risk of wildfires.  Periodic burns are conducted involving small, controllable, areas of Camp Robinson.  Post firefighters and environmental personnel will monitor the activity, and adjacent fire departments are notified as a precaution to ensure public safety for areas neighboring the post.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark, (AG) - The Arkansas National Guard Environmental Office will conduct a prescribed burn over approximately 820 acres of land on Camp Robinson Maneuver Training Center in North Little Rock, Ark. beginning at about 10:00 a.m., on Thursday morning, February 27, 2014.

The prescribed burn will be located near the Eastern boundary of the post and involve perimeter areas of several weapons firing ranges and range complexes.

The intent of the burn is to reduce the amount of natural fuel on the ground in order to benefit wildlife and the surrounding communities with the reduced risk of wildfires.  Periodic burns are conducted involving small, controllable, areas of Camp Robinson.  Post firefighters and environmental personnel will monitor the activity, and adjacent fire departments are notified as a precaution to ensure public safety for areas neighboring the post.
