Senior Center celebrates 10 years | Events
NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Mayor Joe A. Smith invites the public to attend the 10th anniversary celebration of North Little Rock’s premiere senior citizen’s facility on Sunday February 3, 2013 from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM at the Patrick Henry Hays Senior Citizens Center, 401 W. Pershing Blvd, North Little Rock, Arkansas. The North Little Rock City Council, Hays Center Staff, Senior Citizens Commission, and Senior Citizens Outreach join Mayor Smith in the invitation for all to join them in celebrating this special day.
- Hays Center members and volunteers will be displaying their daily activities, classes, and events, including art.
- Demonstrations on everything from line dancing to billiards and quilting to chair volleyball.
- Open House atmosphere allows friends and families of Hays Center members to get an “inside look”.
Charley Baxter, Director of the Hays Center, said, “We are proud to have the best facilities and programs in the state and maybe the nation. We invite everyone to drop in and see what we’ve been doing these past ten years. You will find out why people call the Hays Center the best program anywhere.”
The Patrick Henry Hays Center opened in February of 2003 and doubled its size in 2007. This state of the art 60,000 square foot senior center focuses on meeting the needs of today's active seniors. The Hays Center has grown to thousands of members. This success is due to the ever changing programs that are largely manned by volunteers.
Fitness of the mind and body with a focus on fun has led the staff to create avenues to meet these needs. Opportunities abound at the Center to meet and greet old friends and make new ones at the many activities, special events and trips.
