NLR schools set make-up day for inclement weather

North Little Rock, Ark. (KTHV) -- The North Little Rock School District Board of Education voted to approve the attached revised calendar for the 2010-2011 school year.

The revised calendar changes Monday, February 21, originally scheduled as a Professional Development day for teachers, to a Student Day for all students in the North Little Rock School District.

Ken Kirspel, Superintendent of Schools in the North Little Rock School District, made the recommendation to make February 21 a Student Day for students to makeup the day early in the year to benefit students on this year's Benchmark Exam. The makeup of Professional Development for teachers will be at the discretion of the Administrative Director's of Elementary and Secondary Education.

This change was made to the 2010-2011 calendar to makeup the sixth missed day of school in the North Little Rock School District due to inclement weather. The original 2010-2011 calendar had five inclement weather days built in: June 1, 2, 3, 6 and 7. North Little Rock students' last day of school will now be June 7, 2011.

High School scheduling conferences will take place as planned on Monday, February 21. Current sophomores will meet for their conferences, during the day on Monday, at North Little Rock High School East Campus.
