'Bridge the Gap with Fashion' this July 4

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- On this Fourth of July, the makers of Little Rock Fashion Week 2011 are organizing a live fashion presentation entitled "Bridge the Gap with Fashion." Models that will be seen in the third annual Little Rock Fashion Week on July 11-16 will be modeling clothes by Savers (one of the many sponsors of LRFW 2011).

The unique fashion experience starts at 8:15 pm on July 4, along the Junction Bridge Pedestrian Bridge Walkway near the downtown Little Rock in the River Market. The festivity is a symbolism of community togetherness. Audience members will receive a live fashion show, tickets to LRFW 2011, plus purchase them. The models' hair is being done by The Salon Professional Academy with make-up by Tonya Zambrano and other make-up artists of LRFW 2011.

Little Rock Fashion Week 2011 is July 11-16 at various locations in Little Rock.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Thursday, June 16 at 7 pm, Miss Arkansas Alyse Eady will perform her ventriloquism act, sing, and speak to the audience at William F. Laman Public Library Main Branch.

You can catch Alyse on "Today's THV This Morning" with Tom Brannon during the Summer Cereal Drive. She officially joins "Today's THV This Morning" on August 1.

Laman kicks off Summer Reading Program with cultural twist

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The William F. Laman Public Library System announces its 2011 Summer Reading Program beginning tomorrow, June 1-July 22, 2011.

The 2011 theme is about exploring the various cultures throughout our world. Each department has their own theme: Children’s One World, Many Stories; Teen’s You are Here and Adult’s Novel Destinations. Online preregistration began Monday, May 16. Readers may enroll in person or online anytime during the program through, Friday, July 22, before closing time.

Participants will get the chance to experience many activities during the program, among the following: celebrity storytellers (Miss Arkansas Alyse Eady, THV’s Craig O’Neill, N.L.R. Police Officer Tommy Norman), magic shows, games, movies, live animals and much more.

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. –  The Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant is proud to announce that there will be free tickets for students available at this year’s pageant.  On Wednesday and Thursday, July 13 and 14, Junior High and High School spirit squads are invited to attend the Preliminary competition free!    Spirit squad members must wear their uniform / team gear in order to receive complimentary admission. 

On Friday and Saturday, July 15 and 16, fraternity and sorority members will be able to watch the final night of preliminary competition and the crowning night for free as well!  Greek members are asked to wear their letters or pin in order to gain complimentary admission. 

For both groups, there will be a table set up outside the Convention Center, on the Embassy Suites side near the box office.  Spirit Squad members and Greeks are asked to check in between 6:30 p.m.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- It's that time of year again! Little Rock Fashion Week is just around the corner, and prospective models are coming from all corners of the state for their chance to walk the walk at the big event.

The LRFW 2011 Model Search is May 21-22 at Moody Chapel AME Church (5630 Mabelvale Pike) in Little Rock. THV's Lauren Clark is one of the judges for the event, and she sat down for a chat with Executive Director Brandon Campbell about what to expect at the audition.

LITTLE ROCK, AR – The Old State House Museum will mark Arkansas’s 175th Birthday with two events on Saturday, June 11, 2011, and Wednesday, June 15, 2011.

Travel Back to 1836

To observe the 175th anniversary of Arkansas statehood, the Old State House Museum and Historic Arkansas Museum are recreating life in 1836 Arkansas with a joint living history event, "175 Years of Arkansas Statehood" on Saturday, June 11, 2011. The fun will begin at the Historic Arkansas Museum with living history demonstrations highlighting everyday life in Little Rock at the time of statehood. Visitor can participate in dancing, military drills, and 18th century chores from 9 am to 12 pm.

At noon event participants and visitors will parade from the Historic Arkansas Museum to the Old State House Museum, where Arkansas’s admission to the union will be commemorated with a 26-gun salute and the raising of a 26-star U.S.
