Parents of young children are encouraged to come by for a free car seat check-up. Trained professionals will be on hand to help evaluate the car seat currently in use, to check that it is appropriate based on the child’s age and weight, to ensure that it is installed correctly, and to answer any questions parents may have about car seats and booster seats. The child should be present to ensure the best fit in the seat.

According to Arkansas Children's Hospital:

Motor vehicle crashes continue to be the leading cause of unintentional injury-related death among children ages 14 and under.

Child safety seats and seat belts, when used correctly, reduce the risk of death by as much as 71 percent for infants and 54 percent for toddlers.

For children 4 to 7 years of age, booster seats have shown to reduce injury risk by 59 percent compared to safety belts alone.

Estimates show that more than 80 percent of child restraints are used incorrectly and almost 30 percent of children still ride completely unrestrained.
