Grief takes a break at Camp Healing Hearts

Grief can be a very isolating experience, particularly for children, which is why the Kaleidoscope Grief Center hosts Camp Healing Hearts.

Camp Healing Hearts is a family oriented grief camp for children ages 5-18 and their families. It's a safe environment where everyone can develop coping skills both individually and within a community of others.

There are peer support groups where the kids are encourage to share their feelings, age-appropriate discussion that allow campers to manage the often overwhelming and isolating emotions that accompany a loss and plenty of fun activities that remind kids to just be kids.

This free camp will begin Friday, May 20 at 5 p.m. and conclude Saturday, May 21st at 5 p.m. Little Rock's newly renovated Camp Aldersgate will host the campers.

Camp Healing Hearts is put on by Kaleidoscope Grief Center, a non-profit organization serving seriously ill and grieving children. Their mission is to "promote the process of healing through education, therapeutic and recreational services, grief support programs and traditional counseling."
