'Your Dog Can Be Toto' photo shoot set for April 5

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (HSPC) -- Your Dog Can Be Toto, a fundraiser benefiting the Humane Society of Pulaski County will be held Saturday, April 5th, 11 am - 3pm at Just Dogs! Gourmet at The Promenade at Chenal in Little Rock.

For a minimum donation of $15, animal lovers can bring their dogs and pose for a digital photo with the main characters of Parkview Arts and Science Magnet School's presentation of the "Wizard of Oz". Photos will also be displayed in the lobby of Parkview Auditorium during the production on April 11-13, 2014. All breeds and sizes welcome.

Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to Buy One Get One Free Tickets for the "Wizard of Oz" musical at Parkview, a value up to $20.

Proceeds of the event will go directly to provide food, care and shelter for animals at the Humane Society of Pulaski County. The HEART mobile unit will be on-site for adoptions.

Arkansas A+ Schools announces new Executive Director Melanie Landrum

The Thea Foundation and Arkansas A+ Schools are pleased to announce that Melanie Landrum has joined our staff as the Executive Director of the Arkansas A+ Schools program.  Landrum has served as the principal of Pike View Elementary School, an A+ school in the North Little Rock School District, for the past two and a half years of her four-year career in the district.  Her professional experience also includes serving as a curriculum consultant for Literacy and Leadership Cluster Leader America’s Choice Inc. and the “Voices of Love and Freedom” School Design Model; serving as an adjunct professor of Instruction and Curriculum Leadership and Educational Psychology at the University of Memphis; and working as a principal, teacher and curriculum consultant in Memphis, Tenn., for over twenty-five years.

This beautiful baby is Blair, and she's a, um, well.....I haven't got a clue! She's listed as a shepherd mix, but I'm not seeing it. No matter what she is, she's a pretty girl with a lot of personality. She's about 40 lbs with a compact stocky body made for playing. We open every day at 11am so come by and meet her She's about three years old.

HOPE Conference 2014: Bringing hope and support to Arkansas foster, adoptive parents

Little Rock, Ark. (CAOC) - This weekend (January 24 & 25) at Geyer Springs First Baptist Church in Little Rock, the Central Arkansas Orphan Coalition is offering a revolutionary training program for foster and adoptive parents, those who have considered fostering or adoption and those who support those families.

Keynote speakers Michael and Amy Monroe have developed Empowered To Connect Parent Training specifically to equip those caring for children from hard places. Michael and Amy are the proud parents of four children, each of whom were adopted. In addition to developing and training ETC Parent Training, together they lead Tapestry, the adoption and foster care ministry at Irving Bible Church in Texas.

AHTD accepting applications for public transportation program

LITTLE ROCK (AHTD) - The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department is now accepting applications for the Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities Program, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

The Section 5310 – Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities Program is federally funded. It provides capital assistance in the form of discounted vehicles to agencies providing transportation services to seniors and individuals with disabilities.
