Because Attorney General Dustin McDaniel hopes everyone has a safe and happy holiday, he issued these safety tips to remind Arkansans about state laws concerning fireworks.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, ARK.—Dillon International, Inc., will present a FREE informational meeting on international adoption from 6:00 to7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at the Dillon International office, 4702 W. Commercial Dr., Suite B-1, in North Little Rock.

A Dillon representative will give an overview of adoption from China, Korea, Haiti, India, and Hong Kong, plus new opportunities in Ghana. Adoption programs in Russia, Ethiopia and Honduras, available through an affiliation with Buckner International, will also be discussed. Arkansas free fishing weekend

June 10-12 is the official "Arkansas Free Fishing Weekend" according to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commision Fishing Guidebook 2011.  Residents and nonresidents may fish this weekend without fishing licenses or trout permits. Regulations for Arkansas waters apply: daily limits, slot limits and length limits must be observed.  Several new changes have occured on fishing limits, so visit http://www.agfc.com/resources/GuidebookDocs/fish2011p07-11.pdf for more information on current regulations.  

Kids’ Fishing Day at the Commission’s five fish hatcheries is Saturday, June  11, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Laman kicks off Summer Reading Program with cultural twist

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The William F. Laman Public Library System announces its 2011 Summer Reading Program beginning tomorrow, June 1-July 22, 2011.

The 2011 theme is about exploring the various cultures throughout our world. Each department has their own theme: Children’s One World, Many Stories; Teen’s You are Here and Adult’s Novel Destinations. Online preregistration began Monday, May 16. Readers may enroll in person or online anytime during the program through, Friday, July 22, before closing time.

Participants will get the chance to experience many activities during the program, among the following: celebrity storytellers (Miss Arkansas Alyse Eady, THV’s Craig O’Neill, N.L.R. Police Officer Tommy Norman), magic shows, games, movies, live animals and much more.
