McCain Mall, Arkansas Heart Hospital host Health Event

McCain Mall, Arkansas Heart Hospital host Health Event

The event will be Thursday, March 14 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Center Court. The day will highlight National Nutrition Month, National Sleep Awareness Month and Diabetes Alert Month. Professionals will be available to offer tips and answer questions for leading a healthy lifestyle.

• National Nutrition Month centers around helping people eat right in their own way. This campaign, created 40 years ago by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, focuses attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits.

• National Sleep Awareness Month addresses the importance of sleep in both adults and children. The National Sleep Foundation has found that the amount of sleep adults get a night declines every year, and children are deprived of sleep too, which can affect school performances and create mood and behavior problems.

Celebrate Red Cross Month by getting involved

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (March 4, 2013) — During Red Cross Month, the American Red Cross invites everyone to support their communities by giving blood or platelets, volunteering, taking a class or making a financial donation. Those involved enable the Red Cross to continue to help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.

Like the emergency room of a hospital, the Red Cross must be prepared to respond to patient needs around the clock. With the generous support of blood donors, the Red Cross can help ensure all patients have the blood products they need, no matter when or where.

The Argenta Film Series Presents Academy Award Winner UNDEFEATED

The Argenta Film Series Presents Academy Award Winner UNDEFEATED

The Argenta Film Series Presents Academy Award Winner UNDEFEATED, Febuary 21st, 7p.m., Argenta Community Theater with special guest Bill Courtney, coach of the Manassas Tigers football team.

Set against the backdrop of a high school football season, Dan Lindsay and T.J. Martin’s documentary UNDEFEATED, winner of the Academy Award® for Best Documentary Feature, is an intimate chronicle of three underprivileged student-athletes from inner-city Memphis and the volunteer coach trying to help them beat the odds on and off the field.

Founded in 1899, Manassas High School in North Memphis has never seen its football team, the Tigers, win a playoff game. In recent decades, the last-place Tigers had gone so far as to sell its regular season games to rival schools looking to chalk up an easy win.
