NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - There's been an outpouring of support for the Cass family in North Little Rock. More than one hundred people came out Thursday night for a vigil in honor of 31-year-old Samantha Cass.

The North Little Rock mother was shot Wednesday heading east bound on McCain Blvd. crossing the JFK Blvd. intersection.

People gathered Thursday night and held a vigil to honor Samantha Cass. The organizer, Jason Benbrook, said he decided to get the word out to the community because someone needed to step up and let the family know the community supports them during this dark time. Donations were collected to offset funeral costs.

"She encompasses everybody. It's not just a single woman that passed away. It could have been you, it could have been me, and it could have been my child. You know? And, when I even think about my kids getting hurt, it chokes me up," said Benbrook.

Hardee's at JFK and McCain, near where the shooting happened, has decided to pitch in their support to the Cass family. The restaurant's district manager said the case hits close to home.

"Actually our owner was here last night during the candle light vigil, and he was kind of moved by the ceremony. He offered to do, what we're going to do is ten percent of our sales for tomorrow, we're just going to donate to the family," said Ryan Taylor, Hardee's District Manager.

Benbrook wants the support will continue. He hopes the Hardee's fundraiser will triple their donation to give to the family.

Any donations can be made at any Metropolitan National Bank location to the Samantha Cass-Olson account.
