North Little Rock opens 11th fire station

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The North Little Rock Fire Department announced on Friday the opening of the eleventh fire station in the area.

The NLRFD will be hosting a dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, October 16 at 10 a.m. at the new station located at 9906 Highway 165 Federal in North Little Rock. State and local representatives will be on hand for the dedication. The station will be the home of Engine 11 and will help cover approximately 25 square miles of the city's eastern border.

By repurposing and refurbishing an existing home and property that are centrally located in the new district, NLRFD is able to minimize cost. This cost savings has enabled the city to open and operate the station in a more timely and cost-effective way. As a former residential property, the new station is also reflective of the community it serves. NLRFD and their city leaders stay at the forefront of alternative funding and creative solutions to keep pace with their growing city.

The dedication and ribbon cutting will be followed by lunch and station tours. The ceremony will be from 10 a.m. till 1 p.m. with the open house till 7 p.m. The public is encouraged to come out and meet their neighbors.
