Argenta District sees new growth

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark.(KTHV) -- After experiencing a bit of a stagnant period, it seems a renaissance is taking place in North Little Rock's Argenta District.

New businesses are popping up all over North Little Rock's Argenta District.

In a month, food blogger Steve Shuler says Flyway Brewing Company will be serving beer and food near the corner of Broadway and Maple.

"What you're going to see is not only local and craft beer. We are trying to be a being family friendly, so we're talking about some special sodas on tap."

Shuler says Argenta is experiencing a growth spurt.

"Right now Argenta is at a turning point so to speak. There's a lot there that's contributed to the city's identity, but there's so much more space."

Plans for a proposed town square area are moving forward.

Mayor Joe Smith wants to transform North Little Rock's vacant Argenta Plaza into a vibrant area for dining, shopping and the arts.

Shuler says there's definitely a market.

"Argenta is nowhere near saturation. They can support a lot more restaurants, breweries. Anything food based...they can support a lot more business."

Heather Baber says she chose Argenta to open her women's clothing boutique MADDOX because she saw an area with high potential.

"We've been here four weeks. I sell women's clothing and accessories. Everything from size small to 3X."

"There's a few new restaurants already here that opened before I did and with some new ones coming in I think it's really going to grow into something huge."

Shuler says another brewery is on tap for North Little Rock.

Blood Eagle and Leap of Faith Brewing companies will open their location between Argenta and Dickey Stephens Park.

"The place is really ready to boom and I think it has the community here to support it."

Another bar and grill, Four Corners is also set to open soon along Main Street in Argenta.
