News

SCOTT, Ark. (KTHV) - The North Little Rock Fire Department responded to a field fire Thursday afternoon that left 10 acres in ashes.

At around 1:52 p.m., the NLR Fire Department received a call regarding a grass fire that was burning along Colonel Maynard Road and behind homes of the Ashley Downs gated community. The NLR FD called the Scott Fire Department for assistance and responded.

According to officials, residents were burning old magazines when a sudden gust of wind picked up, causing burning pages to fly into the field and quickly set it ablaze. Approximately 10 acres were burned before firefighters were finally able to contain the fire about an hour later.

No damages or injuries were reported.
