NLR police look to churches for help

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - It's been more than a year and a half since Ferguson, Miss., but its effects are still prompting police to reach out into the community and connect.

The North Little Rock Police Department has already started several initiatives like Shop with a Cop, and on Thursday they'll start another.

Acceptance and trust don't spontaneously materialize. They're born from what's happening in Pastor Danny Jones' classroom at the Summit Church on Wednesday evening. It’s born from discussion.

The meeting will take place at the First Assembly of God Church.

The police department says it will be a relationship that will continue long into the future.
