Shakespeare Theater brings Shakespeare to the South on Tales from the South

In partnership with the Arkansas Shakespeare Theater, acclaimed writers Greg Brownderville, Hope Coulter, and Jay Jennings will bring Shakespeare to the South on Tales from the South, with stories centered around finding themselves, others, and even the South in the Bard. Tuesday evening, February 12, 2013. The live taping of the radio series will be at Starving Artist Café in the Argenta Arts District, Downtown North Little Rock. Live music by Shelley King, winner of two Austin Music Awards and named the Texas State Musician in 2008. Doors open at 5:00pm, dinner and drinks are served 5:00pm-6:30pm and the show starts at 7 pm.

Eat Your Way Around Argenta During Restaurant Week

Argenta Restaurant Week is rapidly approaching and our stomachs are beginning to growl. From January 21-26, Argenta Restaurants will offer special $8 two-course lunch menus, and $25 three-course, prix fixe dinner menus, along with their regular menus. The four year old celebration showcases the Argenta Arts District in downtown North Little Rock as a premier dining and arts destination. It’s a great way to dine at restaurants that you love (or have been dying to try).

The value of the military in Arkansas to be discussed

Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe will be the featured speaker at the first combined meeting of the Camp Robinson/Camp Pike Community Council, the Little Rock Air Force Base/Jacksonville Community Council and the Fort Smith/Fort Chaffee Community Council which will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, January 10, 2013.  The meeting will be held at the National Guard Professional Education Center Auditorium on Camp Joseph T. Robinson in North Little Rock.

Due to security access requirements for the military post, Community Council members are encouraged to RSVP to their respective council with intention to attend the meeting.  This way an accurate list can be provided for the Camp Robinson Security.

Members of the media will meet an escort from the Arkansas National Guard at the main gate at 11:15.  The escort will route media to the meeting facility auditorium.

 ACT Announces Auditions For Musical Jesus Christ Superstar

The Argenta Community Theater has announced auditions for Jesus Christ Superstar. Auditions will be held as follows: Thursday, January 10 - Open Call: 6-8 p.m., Dance Call: 8-9 p.m., Saturday, January 12 - Open Call: 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Dance Call: 1-2 p.m.

The show will be performed July 23-28, 2013 at ACT. Rehearsals will begin in June, 2013. Auditions are held during this time to allow as many people as possible to audition, particularly students home for the holiday, who will again be home for the summer.

City of North Little Rock invites public to swearing in of city’s first new Mayor in 24 years on January 1 and a City Hall “Open House” the following Sunday.

 

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (December 20, 2012) – The public is invited to attend the city’s swearing in ceremony for municipal elected officials at 10:00am, Tuesday, January 1, 2013 in the lobby of City Hall, 300 Main Street, North Little Rock, AR.  Mayor-elect Joe A. Smith and his wife Missie Smith also wish to extend an invitation to every resident of North Little Rock to visit with them during a City Hall Open House to be held the following Sunday, January 6, 2013 from 2:00pm until 4:00pm.  Light refreshments will be served at both events.
