Architects announces that Sylvan Hills Middle School, Sherwood, Arkansas has been selected for publication in Penton Media’s American School & University’s 2010 Architectural Portfolio. The project is featured in the November 2010 edition of the magazine and also on the Web at www.SchoolDesigns.com. The Architectural Portfolio spotlights projects representing some of the most effective learning environments in America.

Situated on a 44-acre campus on Johnson Road, the new school will serve 1,200 students, grades 6-8 and encompasses 196,905 square feet.

North Little Rock, Arkansas - Registration begins Monday, January 24, 2011 in the North Little Rock School District for the 2011-2012 school year. Some children may be eligible to attend the North Little Rock School District even if they live in the Little Rock School District or Pulaski County School District attendance zones through School Choice or M-to-M transfer.
In accordance with Act 462 from the 2007 Legislative Session, students who will be five years of age on or before August 1, 2011 can enroll in kindergarten for the 2011-2012 school year.

North Little Rock students enrolling for the first time should register at their neighborhood school. Students entering the North Little Rock School District through School Choice or M-to-M should contact the Office of Student Affairs at 771-8010 or 771-8050 for more information.

The THEA Foundation’s 2011 Visual and Performing Arts Scholarship Competitions are fast approaching. Each year the THEA Foundation offers ten scholarships in the Visual Arts and ten scholarships in the Performing Arts to Arkansas High School Seniors (public, private, home-schooled, and GED students are eligible).

The theme for this year’s Visual Arts Scholarship Competition is “Amazing Butterflies.”  The competition is based on a different theme each year taken from Thea's high school journal.   Judging will be based on creativity, design, and interpretation of the theme. Students should review more information on the theme, specifications for entries, and submit their entries online at www.theafoundation.org.

Windstream builds MAN (Metro Area Network) for the North Little Rock School District

 

North Little Rock, Arkansas......(January 4, 2011)........Before November 2010, the North Little Rock School District's network was made up of 27 T1 Internet lines at all schools and locations across the District at a speed of 1.5 Meg at each location. All schools were connected to the Arkansas Department Information Services (DIS) network that connects all North Little Rock schools and administrative buildings as well as other school districts and state entities. The District utilized the E-rate funding from the Federal Schools and Library Division to pay approximately 75% of the total cost of the new network project.

 

A Request for Proposal (RFP) was developed and 15 vendors expressed interest.

Wrestling Match

The Charging Wildcat Wrestling Team at North Little Rock High School will host Conway in a dual wrestling match on Thursday, January 6, 2011 in the North Little Rock High School Arena. The competition will begin at 6:00 p.m. Only North Little Rock and AAA passes will be honored.  Admission will be $3.00 per person.  This is a fund raising event to help with wrestling team entry fees to other competitions.
