NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Governor Mike Beebe will be the guest speaker this Tuesday, May 15 at 10:00 am at the 7th Annual Academic Signing Day (ASD) at the North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce offices in the Bank of the Ozark Conference room. Each year, the North Little Rock Public Education Foundation and the North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce celebrate academic excellence among North Little Rock High School seniors by partnering to honor a select group of students. Leaders of the business community feel it is important for local residents to know about the success stories coming out of the North Little Rock School District which educate more than 9,000 students every year. Sixteen seniors will be recognized Tuesday for their academic excellence. For more information, visit the website at: www.nlrpubliceducation.org

This year, 146 of the 469 North Little Rock High School seniors accepted scholarships totaling almost $6.5 million. Academic Signing Day is a time to recognize the best and brightest in the North Little Rock School District. In order to be considered for recognition and participation on Academic Signing Day, a student must have at least a 3.8 grade point or higher, been selected by a prestigious college or university, and/or must have received a significant scholarship. This year, 16 Academic Signing Day participants have been selected and have accepted scholarships totaling over  $ 1.5 million to the following schools:
