NLR Police Athletic League receives $10K grant

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A check presentation will take place at the Cameron Company, 7200 Interstate 30, in Little Rock on Monday, March 14.

The Corporate Community Service Grant, for $10,000, will be presented to North Little Rock Police Athletic League (PAL) and will help fund PAL activities including Taekwondo, Baseball, Football, Cheerleading and many of the other sports activities that PAL provides at no cost to at-risk children on our communities.

The North Little Rock Police Athletic League was started in 1998 by a group of Officers that wanted to make in difference in the lives of youth in our community.  PAL is based on the strong belief that sports, life skills and activities programs help instill positive social and moral values in our area youth.  If young people are reached early enough in their life journey, they can develop a strong, positive attitude toward law enforcement and with proper guidance, a better chance of a suc

Soccer showcase starts Saturday

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock Futbol Club (LRFC) is hosting the 5th Annual Showcase of the South. This year’s event for U15-U19 soccer teams will be played on Jan. 29 – 30 at Burns Park, the site of the 2008 USYSA National Championships. The showcase provides club teams an exhibition style environment in which college coaches from around the country can view future college-bound players.

This year’s event will feature approximately 2,200 players from Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Tennessee, Texas, Kansas, Illinois, Louisiana, Nebraska, Indiana, Alabama, and Mississippi.

NLRHD releases wrestling schedule

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The North Little Rock High School Wrestling Team lead by School Resource Officer, Craig Edwards, will hold a home, Quad match against Benton, Oak Grove and North Pulaski High Schools on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. in the Arena at North Little Rock High School West Campus. 
 
Twenty-five North Little Rock High School students comprised of freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors and two students from Argenta Academy participate in the North Little Rock High School Wrestling Program lead by Officer Craig Edwards, Mrs. Suzie Thompson, and Stephen Sass.

The program was originated and made possible by Greg Hatcher.  The North Little Rock Wrestling Program, funded by its athletes, operates through fund raisers and private donations to purchase athlete's wrestling shoes and sweats.

The Charging Wildcat Wrestling Team at North Little Rock High School will host Conway in a dual wrestling match on Thursday, January 6, 2011 in the North Little Rock High School Arena. The competition will begin at 6:00 p.m. Only North Little Rock and AAA passes will be honored.  Admission will be $3.00 per person.  This is a fund raising event to help with wrestling team entry fees to other competitions.
