Research work on I-40 in NLR will create lane closures

LITTLE ROCK (AHTD) – Research work on Interstate 40 will require a lane closure near North Little Rock, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Crews will perform drilling operations to test the soil beneath the driving surface.

It will require closing the Interstate 40 westbound inside lane between mile markers 145 and 146. That’s located just west of the Interstate 40/430 interchange.  The lane closure will be Tuesday, January 28th, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., weather permitting. Traffic will be controlled using barrels and warning signs. This work had been scheduled for Friday, January 24th, but had to be rescheduled.

The work is being conducted in preparation for widening Interstate 40 to six lanes between Highway 365 and Interstate 430. This includes modifying the Interstate 430 interchange. This work is scheduled for bid later this year.

Motorists should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ArkansasHighways.com. You can also follow us on Twitter @AHTD.
