'A Taste for Business' set for Thursday evening in North Little Rock

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Sept. 2015) -- The North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce will host A Taste for Business, formerly Taste of the Town, on Thursday, September 24th from 5:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at Verizon Arena, concourse level, in North Little Rock. Tickets are $15 in advance and can be picked up at the Chamber office or purchased at the door for $20.

A Taste for Business will feature great-tasting offering from more than 30 of the best local restaurants, caterers and drink distributors. A limited number of non-food vendor booths will also showcase their business products and services at this great event. More than 1,300 people attend this annual event. This is one event you do not want to miss!

Proceeds will support the Chamber's educational programs, such as Arkansas Scholars and Leadership Renaissance, as well as fund local scholarships in the community.

World's largest truck convoy honors Arkansas' Special Olympics

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - An international effort to support the Special Olympics hit the road on Saturday.

The world's Largest Truck Convoy is helping an organization that touches thousands of lives.

On Saturday, companies across central Arkansas and law enforcement agencies joined the cause to raise funds for more than 15,000 Arkansas special athletes. For 30 miles, trucking companies convoyed their way across town. More than 60 trucks participated.

"It's just an important time for everyone to come together," said Terri Weir, executive director of the Arkansas Special Olympics. "And to know how important Special Olympics is to every community."

Last year, more than 1,000 truckers in the United States and Canada joined the cause. They helped raised more than a million dollars.

CADC to distribute USDA commodities in Pulaski County

PULASKI COUNTY, Ark. - Central Arkansas Development Council will distribute USDA Commodities Thursday, September 17 beginning at 9 a.m. in Pulaski County.  

The food items to be distributed may include Pink Salmon, Cranberry Sauce, Vegetable Soup, Spaghetti Sauce, Potato Flakes, Vegetarian Beans, Peanut Butter and Apple Juice.

Fired NLR coach's case moves forward in court

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - The former head football coach at North Little Rock High School was handed a court victory on Friday regarding his on-going fight with the district over his firing earlier in 2015.

Bolding is suing the North Little Rock School District, claiming they didn't follow proper procedures when they fired him.

The district fired the coach after questions arose over athlete KJ Hill and his family, as well as questionable equipment purchases. The district asked Pulaski Circuit Court Judge Tim Fox to dismiss the case, but yesterday the judge ruled that the case should move forward.

Police make arrest on man responsible for NLR vehicle break-ins

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - A man was taken into North Little Rock police custody early Wednesday morning in connection to several vehicle break-ins that were reported in the area.

At around 6 a.m. Wednesday, September 9, the North Little Rock Police Department received a call from a citizen claiming that they saw a suspicious person in the Park Hill area. Upon arrival, police approached the suspect, Jerry McCoy, and discovered that he had in his possession several items that had been stolen from vehicles in the area.

McCoy was arrested and charged with three counts of felony Breaking or Entering, and is now being held at the Pulaski County Detention Facility.

Family Fun Saturday September 12

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Tommy Terrific will present an educational magic show about famous "Black Cowboys of the Old West." 

The kids will learn about Bill Pickett who invented bulldogging as Tommy does a magic trick with a steer's skull. They will also learn about expert robber Nat Love and Mary Fields, who delivered mail in the Wild West. 

Tommy Terrific will create a world of excitement when he uses his magical lasso and a host of other tricks to highlight Black Americans of the Old West. 

This family-friendly event is free and open to the public. There will be popcorn, prizes and more. All of the festivities will begin at noon on September 12.

10th Annual Thea Paves the Way

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Thea Foundation’s 10th annual sidewalk chalk event, Thea Paves the Way, will be held Saturday, September 12, 2015, on the front lawn of the William J. Clinton Presidential Library, where students and families will share in the creative community effort to cover the sidewalks in vibrant chalk art.

Thea Paves the Way will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the front lawn of the Clinton Presidential Center.

Registration is free and open to school groups, church groups, families, clubs and other organizations. Teachers who register their students and compete together as a school group have a chance to win one of two $250 gift certificates for art supplies from Dick Blick.
